About the Author

"Uncle Dave" Howard grew up in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. As a child, he struggled to read and write and he was placed in learning disability classes. He excelled in art and had a passion for telling stories even as a child. He over came his disabilities and graduated in 1995 from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh earning a degree in Visual Communications.

His first book is Lady’s Day to Play, a story about his own dog, which is a Jack Russell-Cocker Spaniel-Poodle mix. The idea for his book came about because of his wife’s profession as a dog groomer. He listened to her sing to her clients when they were in the tub to keep them calm.

Dave writes under the name Uncle Dave because this first book was written for his niece as a baby shower gift. Unfortunately, the new baby died of S.I.D.S (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) at the age of two months. Because of this tragedy and the support from Dave’s friends and family for his writing, he donates part of the book proceeds to S.I.D.S research.

Dave is currently writing several new books and his favorite genre is rhyming text and computer illustrations for the very young reader. For more information visit www.UncleDavesBooks.com. Dave lives in Waynesburg, PA with his wife, Jill, and Lady.

This charming little story goes through the activities that a puppy experiences for the day...from playtime to bedtime. Written in a rhyming format that is easy to understand, even for the youngest of children and brilliant illustrations to grab their attention, this book will sure to delight the preschool age child. A very nice addition to add to your child's book collection. — Diana H. (West Virginia)

I received this book as a gift and my children absolutely LOVE it. The two youngest enjoy the pictures and my 3rd grader likes it because it is just the right length to keep his attention and he is able to read it to his brother and sister. As a parent, I enjoy the book because it fits all of the criteria that should be present when choosing a children's book. The book is free from stereo types, easy to understand, colorful, contains rhyme, not too long so not to lose the interest of the child. The author did an excellent job incorporating all of these factors in his book. I will definitely recommend this book to all of my friends and family with young children!— Stormy C. Matlick (Morgantown, WV)
