Grandfather’s Garden: New Book Encourages Good Health!
Fight Childhood Obesity: A Number One Problem in America — Grandfather’s Garden will help create healthy eating habits for your children.

Teach Reading with Pesky Rabbits — this new book is an excellent early reader with beautiful, colorful illustrations.

Learning Skills Made Fun and Easy! — This first mystery will be a blast for very young children as they try to find all the hidden rabbits in Grandfather’s garden.

New author, Mary Jane Romig, has a hit with tykes as they hunt, point, and giggle at the antics of the wiley rabbits in this new children’s book. For a first mystery, this book will keep them guessing! Grandfather is sure that no rabbits can get into his garden and boy is he ever wrong.

Grandfather's Garden is captivating with its illustrations and humor. It is an exciting book for young children to read and make predictions on what they think will happen next. Repetition of words makes this story easy for the beginning reader. The wonderfully descriptive phrases are reinforced by the colorful illustrations. Young readers will be delighted by the "unseen" rabbits,” says teacher Karen Miller.

“Mary Jane Romig is a wonderful addition to our rapidly growing School Show Program,” says Headline Books president, Cathy Teets. “Our authors have visited over 700 schools nationwide and we continue to reach into the classrooms of America to encourage children to read, write, and feel good about themselves with entertaining and educational children’s book authors. With the rise of childhood obesity we have several new titles that help with healthy living habits for life.”

According to KidSource Online, there is considerable evidence that childhood eating and exercise habits are more easily modified than adults. Three forms of intervention include: physical activity, diet management, and behavior modification.

Education is key and with the addition of healthy recipes and a kid friendly food pyramid, learning is fun with Grandfather’s Garden.

Illustrated by Karen Riley whose day job is that of school principal, she knows of the problems first hand with the daily struggles of children to fit in with others and excel in the classroom. “We hope that Grandfather’s Garden will help children and parents. It is a fun ‘cuddle and read’ book with additional helps for later in life.”

Romig recently retired after 35 years of teaching kindergarten has taken her experience and woven it into her children’s books. “I know children will be delighted with Karen’s illustrations and hope our healthy additions will make them want to plant their own gardens.”
